The condensor is about 5 meters of 1/2" cu-pipe, split into 4 pipes of just over one meter. The condensate is pumped up with a par-pump, driven by the prop shaft. The hotwell is made of wood, in style with the rest and consist of 3 sections. The condensate drips from the pipe in the first compartiment. Water can flow through a hole just above the bottom to the second section. When that one is filled upto a certain level the rest of the water will flow into the biggest section. From there it is sucked away by the feedwaterpumps or manual pump. Pictures of par-pump and a pipe line diagram will follow. There is a bit of oil absorbing material in the third section (in front of the picture) so I can easily see if the oil is separated well enough from the water. if everything goes well, this piece of oilabsorbing material stays clean. The good thing about this hotwell is that I can easily see how much water flows from the second section into the long third section. This gives a nice visual check, very usefull for an amateur like me. |
